Pittsburgh is perfect for team building

Pittsburgh is home to teams with deep roots — organizations that value collaboration, loyalty, and getting real work done together. Many teams here are balancing long-standing relationships with new ways of working, new hires, and evolving organizational structures.

That makes Pittsburgh an ideal setting for team building that’s grounded, human, and genuinely useful — not performative or superficial.

We regularly work with teams who are:

  • Navigating growth or change while maintaining strong culture

  • Bringing together cross-functional or multi-generational groups

  • Looking to rebuild trust, communication, or shared purpose

Our approach is designed to meet teams where they are and support real working relationships, not just a moment of “fun.”

Our approach to team building in Pittsburgh

Rather than icebreakers or one-off games, we design experiences that balance playfulness with depth. Teams laugh, create, and experiment together — but always in ways that reinforce trust, empathy, and shared understanding.

Our Pittsburgh team-building workshops are especially well-suited for:

  • Leadership teams and executive groups

  • Departmental or cross-functional teams

  • Strategy sessions, planning days, and culture resets

  • Teams navigating change, growth, or re-alignment

Every experience is facilitated by experienced hosts and tailored to your group’s size, goals, and context — so the work feels relevant in the room and meaningful afterward.

Trusted by teams at leading organizations

Make Believe Works has partnered with teams at organizations including Google, Salesforce, Mayo Clinic, Capital One, and Spotify, helping groups build stronger cultures through creativity, trust, and meaningful shared experiences.

Most Pittsburgh engagements are fully in-person, but we also support flexible formats for teams that include remote or distributed participants. We’ll help you choose an approach that fits your schedule, space, and energy — without forcing a one-size-fits-all solution.

If you’re planning a team gathering in Pittsburgh and want an experience that’s creative, thoughtful, and genuinely worthwhile, we’d love to help.

Make Believe Works in Pittsburgh FAQ

Do you offer team building for offsites and retreats in Pittsburgh? Yes. We regularly work with teams based in Pittsburgh on leadership sessions, planning days, and internal team gatherings designed to strengthen trust and collaboration.

What group sizes do you support?
We design experiences for groups ranging from small leadership teams to large company gatherings. We’ll recommend the right format based on your group size and goals.

How long are the sessions?
Most workshops run 60 minutes to Half Day sessions. For offsites, we can extend or stack activities to fit your agenda.

Do you support hybrid teams? Yes. We have a whole library of activities that work for fully in-person, hybrid, or remote events.

How far ahead should we book? We recommend 2–4 weeks for best availability, but we’ve also done plenty of last minute, next day workshops.

Do you provide food or alcohol? Nope. We only focus on what we’re good at. But this is Pittsburgh - there are so many great options!

Are your activities competitive? No. Competition is great for lots of things, but not team building. It divides people, pits them against each other, and most people lose. Not a great mindset for authentic connection. Our experiences are non-competitive by design—they bring people together.

What does team building cost? Pricing depends on the activities you choose, how many are in your group, and how long a session you’re looking for. We are definitely pricier than a scavenger hunt, but our clients tell us the results are worth the investment. We also never want price to be a barrier and work with plenty of schools, start-ups and non-profits. So reach out and let’s talk!

Can you tailor a session to our goals or theme?
Yes. We can customize prompts, pacing, and debriefs to focus on your priorities like connection, trust, onboarding, or creativity.

Where do events take place?
We come to you. We don’t operate venues directly, but we regularly work in hotels, conference centers, offices, and offsite spaces throughout the Pittsburgh area — including Downtown, the Strip District, Lawrenceville, Oakland, East Liberty, and the North Shore — and can collaborate with your venue or event partner.
